1/10 R/C Opel Kadett GT/E (MB-01)

Here is another R/C kit with the MB-01 chassis – this time, long wheelbase and midship rear motor / rear wheel drive (MR).

The Opel Kadett GT/E released in 1975 was a high-spec version of the Opel Kadett, a car which enjoyed great popularity in Europe in the 1970s. The GT/E had a 2-door coupe body, a high-spec 1.9-liter engine and reinforced suspension; the works Opel Eurohändler team, satellite teams and privateers took part in rally races with modified versions of this car, and in 1976 it secured second place in the manufacturer’s championship in global rally races.

This assembly kit R/C model recreates the car in 1/10 scale, with a polycarbonate body capturing the classic lines of the car.

Take a look at the polycarbonate body from another angle, and see how it captures the elegantly sloped Kadett GT/E form. Quadruple fog lamps on the front are separate parts.. Flat side mirrors are separate parts, with stickers for the mirror surfaces.

The rear bumper is also a separately molded part. Rear combination lamps have PC-ABS light cases compatible with separately sold LEDs.

Classical dish wheels are paired with treaded 60D radial tires.  The compact MB-01 chassis. For this model, it is assembled with a long wheelbase: 239mm.

About the MB-01 chassis

The compact, 2WD MB-01 chassis gives a choice of three types of wheelbase, and front- or rear- wheel drive system. Without removing battery pack, motor and R/C equipment setups from the center frame, simply change attachment directions of final gears and steering linkage to switch between front- and rear-wheel drive; low or high motor position can be chosen for rear-wheel drive cars. The 4-wheel double wishbone suspension features symmetrical structure and friction dampers. Unitized sections such as motor mount, final gears and suspension facilitate ease of assembly and effective maintenance.

• Length: 322mm, width: 163mm. Wheelbase: 209mm (S) / 224mm (M) / 239mm (L) (*).
• The multi-purpose, 2WD MB-01 chassis gives choices of three types of wheelbase (*), and front- or rearwheel drive system. Six setups are available in total.
• Simply change attachment directions of final gears and steering linkage to switch between front- and rearwheel drive; low or high motor position can be chosen for rear-wheel drive cars.
• Unitized sections such as motor mount and final gears facilitate ease of assembly and effective maintenance.
• The 4-wheel double wishbone suspension features symmetrical structure and friction dampers.
• While this is a 2WD model, multi-link suspension is compatible with tires featuring the same compound and rear tire with toe-in as 4WD models.
• Gear ratio: 5.83:1 (when using kit-standard 29T pinion gear)
• Many Hop-Up Option parts for M-chassis and TT-chassis cars can be used to fine-tune setup.

The compact MB-01 chassis. For this model, it is assembled with a short wheelbase: 210mm. The servo is installed in the right-rear of the model and moves the steering linkage via a link rod. The four-wheel double wishbone suspension uses symmetrical arms.
Coil sprung dampers come as standard, although you can upgrade them with M-Chassis aluminum dampers if you wish. The motor mount is assembled as a unit and secured to the chassis using two screws. The 4-bevel gear differential is the same as that on the TT-02; this chassis is compatible with TT-02 Hop-Up Option differentials.
